The sad part is, most of the threads that reported the problem concluded with no resolution that worked for everyone. That made me curious - why it never happened to me and why Google didn't announce a solution even though so many people have repeatedly reported this problem. I searched in Google for the same problem and found this problem has been reported by many people, that too since last 2-3 years.
All other solutions mentioned below solved the problem for some others and partially for me. If you don't want to read this entire article but want the quick solution, this is what you need to do to resolve the black screen problem on Chrome - re-install Google Chrome. When the blackscreen is displayed, the right click context menu also didn't work, indicating the page itself is not rendered. Many times, I had to type the url 4-5 times in new tabs to get a proper page displayed and rest of the times I was getting the same black screen. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. When the problem happens, I tried to close the browser or the tabs and reopened to try again. I checked with Internet Explorer and Firefox and the same does not happen in any other browser. Initially I thought something might be wrong with the website I was trying to browse but then the problem started appearing randomly in several websites. When I try to browse a website, all I see is a black screen on the browser. Since last few days, I am facing a very annoying issue on my Google Chrome browser.
